L'invité Design : Eero Saarinen

Nous inaugurons ici une nouvelle rubrique que nous appellerons l'Invité Design. Chaque mois nous porterons notre regard sur un objet, un meuble, une signature du design contemporain posé dans le décor splendide hérité d'un autre temps qu'est Baudon de Mauny.

Cette semaine, focus sur l'entrée de Baudon de Mauny, où l'on remarque au premier regard deux tables basses ovales signées Eero Saarinen. 

Cet architecte et designer américain d'origine finlandaise fut un contemporain de Charles Eames au début du 20ème siècle, avec qui il collabora à la création de nouvelles formes de meubles. C'est ainsi que les premiers modèles de meubles en bois lamellé collé virent le jour.

C'est à Eero Saarinen qu'on doit aussi la célèbre chaise tulipe et de nombreux autres meubles emblématiques en particulier pour Knoll International.

Le terminal TWA de l'aéroport J.F. Kennedy de New York est considéré comme le chef d’œuvre architectural d’Eero Saarinen. Il construit jusqu’à sa mort en 1961 l’aéroport Dulles International de Washington.

This week, focus on the entry of Baudon de Mauny, where you can notice at first glance, two oval coffee tables signed Eero Saarinen.

This American architect and designer of Finnish origin was a contemporary of Charles Eames in the early 20th century, with whom he collaborated in the creation of new forms of furniture. That is how the first models of laminated wood furniture were built.

Eero Saarinen is the designer of the famous tulip chair and many other iconic furniture for Knoll International in particular.

The TWA Terminal at JFK airport in New York is considered as the architectural masterpiece of Eero Saarinen. He built until his death in 1961 the Washington Dulles International Airport.
